But the point is that rather than using a whole separate flap or folding in the second color of the paper to serve as eyes, the eyes are simply pushed out or pushed in. I don’t know if that’s a very good word for it. The thing I was trying to achieve with the eyes in this piece is what I’m going to call “implied eyes.” I just came up with that now. The eyes of the owl really aren’t that visible at all. So the horns I folded from the very start and it acted as a base for the rest of the entire model. I wanted to make a bird and I wanted horns. The whole concept of making the great horned owl really came from the horns. The main things I was really going for in this piece were the “horns,” eyes, wings, and tail of the owl. I don’t know how well I did anatomically, but I’m still proud of the final outcome. My dad says it looks more like a screech owl. It’s supposed to be a great horned owl at least.
